Phillips, Wilkins claim wins at PlayNHRA Virginia Nationals

Cody Phillips and Sandy Wilkins visited the winner’s circle at the PlayNHRA Virginia Nationals at Virginia Motorsports Park in North Dinwiddie, VA.

NORTH DINWIDDIE, VA – Cody Phillips and Sandy Wilkins led the winners at the PlayNHRA Virginia Nationals, picking up the NHRA Wally in Stock Eliminator and Top Sportsman. Phillips picked up his first ever NHRA National event win and rocketed himself up to 4th in the national standings.

Joining them in the winner’s circle was Joe Carnasciale (Comp), Jeff Adkinson (SS), Anthony Bertozzi (SC), and Keith Mayers (SG).

PlayNHRA Virginia Nationals

Competition Eliminator

Joe Carnasciale took home the Wally after defeating Michael Costa in the final round. Carnasciale had the starting line advantage, .019 to .097, and turned it into a win light running a 8.944 at 151 mph on his 9.50 index.

Ronnie Boyd and Monty Bogan were the semi-finalists.

Super Stock

Jeff Adkinson picked up his fourth NHRA National event Wally after defeating PJ Fouts in the final round. Adkinson had the slight starting line advantage, .028 to .040, and turned it into a win light running a 9.345 at 140 mph on his 9.34 dial-in.

Dan Fletcher was the semi-finalist.

Stock Eliminator

Cody Phillips remained victorious and picked up his first NHRA National event trophy after defeating Cliff Hynson in the final round. Phillips had the starting line advantage, .020 to .121, and never trailed back for the win. He ran a 10.372 at 126 mph on his 10.36 dial-in.

Robbie Butler was the semi-finalist.

Super Comp

Anthony Bertozzi picked up his 32nd NHRA National event Wally after defeating Amanda Boicesco in the final round. Bertozzi threw down a .009 total package to lock out Boicesco at the hit, who was no slouch at .013 up front.

Michael Handras was the semi-finalist.


Super Gas

Keith Mayers visited the winners circle after defeating Donald Knoblick in the final round to pick up the win. Knoblick turned it -.002 at the hit to give the easy ride to Mayers, who was .022 up front and ran a 9.888 at 154 mph.

Hank Smith was the semi-finalist.

Top Sportsman

Sandy Wilkins won his fifth NHRA Wally after he defeated Jeff Brooks in the final round. Wilkins was .021 up front and ran a 6.563 at 199 mph on his 6.54 dial-in for the trophy.

Donald Preece was the semi-finalist.

Megan Bohannon is a 26 year old Super Comp racer from Louisville, Kentucky. She races a 2015 American Dragster with a 648 Oakley Motorsports Engine. Growing up at the racetrack, drag racing is all she has known and never plans to give up on it.
