DragChamp Jr. Racer Top 10 List

1 – Kane Kern

Kane Kern wins the DragChamp Overall Jr. Racer of the Year title for the 2023 season! He won 17 times in 24 finals on the season including 8 wins at the Southwest Jr. Dragster Series. This resulted in three season championships including two in the SouthWest Jr. Dragster Series and the NHRA D4 Jr Finals 13-14 Championship. Kane traveled to the biggest events across the country and picked up wins at multiple racetracks including wins at the ECF, Midwest Super Series, King of the Coast, the Great American Bracket Races New Years race, and the NHRA D4 Cajun Classic. Kane has never finished worst than 2nd in the last four years in the year-end age group Top 10 lists and has been ranked in every overall Jr. Racer of the Year Top 10 Lists we’ve ever done!

2 – Carson Wied

Carson Wied wins 18 times in 24 finals to finish second by the smallest of margins in the overall Jr. Racer of the Year Top 10. Wied, who won last year’s 6-9 DragChamp Racer of the Year title, was the 2023 10-12 Jr. Racer of the Year. He won three season championships in the Midwest Jr. Super Series, captured the 10-year-old Western Conference Finals trophy, and earned the NHRA Division 3 Championship. Throughout the year, he won many MJSS Big Daddies and Wallys and was ranked #1 on the DragChamp Jr. Racer Top 10 list 4 times in 2023!

3 – Grace Varner

Grace Varner, your 2023 16-17 Jr. Racer of the Year won 16 times in 21 finals in her Jr. Dragster to finish 3rd in the overall Jr. Racer of the Year list. The highlights of Grace’s season include winning the North Florida Motorsports Park Track Championship, WDRA Bracket Finals Championship, and IHRA Bracket Finals Championship. In addition to all of her wins throughout the season, she also won the IHRA Bracket Finals Gamblers Race and NHRA National Open at Rockingham.

4 – Tyler Wied

Tyler Wied grabs the #4 spot after winning 15 times in 19 final round appearances during the 2023 racing season. His season highlights include winning the Midwest Jr Super Series Quick 16 Championship and NHRA West Central Division 5 13-14 Championship. He also picked up the 13 & Up Age Group win at BMP’s Thanksgiving Jr Nationals.

5 – Tyler Cromer

Tyler Cromer had an impressive season where he racked up 23 wins in 26 final rounds. He picked up the $5K Brainerd Motorsports Park Thanksgiving Jr Nationals victory, IHRA Division 3 Team Finals Jr. Dragster win, and captured a $1K Midwest Jr. Super Series race win. Cromer did most of his damage at I-64 Motorplex during the 2023 race season.

6 – Luka Markham

Luka Markham takes the #6 spot in the Jr. Racer of the Year Top 10 after making 23 final round appearances in 2023. Markham posted 15 wins and 8 runner-ups during the season which included victories at the Beech Bend Raceway Park and in the Verge Quick Outlaw Series. He also finished 1st in the Verge 7.90 Quick Outlaw Jr. Dragster points and placed 2nd in points in the Verge Jr. Dragster Eliminator class. In addition, he was crowned as the 2023 Kentucky State Jr. Dragster Champion.

7 – Hutch Harger

Hutch Harger wins 12 times in 20 finals to claim the 2023 DragChamp 6-9 Jr. Racer of the Year title while finishing #7 overall for the season! Harger, who finished 9th in last year’s 6-9 rankings, dominated the class this season. Highlights of his 2023 season include winning the NHRA D5 Jr. Finals 8-9 Championship, NHRA D4 Jr. Finals 6-9 Championship, and NHRA D3 Jr. Finals 6-9 Championship. In addition, he also captured the 6-9 age group win at the Thanksgiving Jr. Nationals at Brainerd Motorsports Park.

8 – Curtis Peek

Curtis Peek won 13 times in 19 finals at 12 different tracks during his 2023 racing season. He doubled-up in the same night at the Back to School race and won both $1K races at the Fall Brawl in Gainesville. In addition, he also captured a $1K win and runner-up at the No One Fights Alone event. Peek also got his feet wet racing big cars and finished the season with 2 wins in 3 final rounds.

9 – Camron Nelson

Camron Nelson won 14 times in 18 final round appearances while winning three season championships to land in the #9 spot. He won the 2023 Houston Raceway Park NHRA Jr Championship, 2023 Xtreme Ironman Pro Mod IHRA Series Jr Championship, and the 2023 NHRA Division 4 ROC Championship. He raced at 12 different race tracks throughout the season including Houston Raceway Park, Little River Dragway, and Edinburg Motorsports Park.

10 – CJ Jenkins

CJ Jenkins won two of the largest Junior Dragster races of the 2023 season to earn a Top 10 ranking in our year end Top 10 List! Jenkins won the Holiday Jr. Jam $10,000 64-car Shootout and the 2nd Annual Christmas on the Coast DragChamp $10,000 64-car Invitational.

10 – William Craft

William Craft closes out the 2023 Jr. Racer of the Year Top 10 List. Craft won 8 times in 12 finals at 13 different race tracks to secure his Top 10 spot. William picked up some big money Junior Dragster wins including a $20,000 win at the Christmas on the Coast, $4,000 Back to School race win, and $1,000 Triple Pumpkin North Florida win. He also picked up two Division 2 NHRA Wally’s and was crowned as the NHRA Division 2 LODRS 13-17 Champion.
