Curt Harvey: DragChamp Racer Spotlight
Curt Harvey is in this week’s DragChamp Racer Spotlight. Learn all about this DragChamp Pro Member in his spotlight below!
GREENVILLE, TX- Curt Harvey began racing in 1993, following in the footsteps of his father, who started competing in the Stock classes in the 1960s. When Curt showed interest in racing, his father supported him every step of the way. He even helped Curt build his first car, a 1965 Mercury Comet, and provided the guidance he needed to succeed in this humbling sport for the past 32 years.

His Race Cars
Curt currently races a 2022 EZ Chassis dragster, which he collaborated on with Johnny Ezell in 2022. He wired, assembled, and plumbed the car in his shop, as he has done with most of his cars over the past 30 years. Curt has driven a variety of vehicles, including Top Sportsman cars, blown/injected Top Dragsters, altereds, regular door cars, and, of course, dragsters.

Racing History & Accomplishments
Although Curt has raced a little bit of everything, he primarily competes in big-money bracket races. He spent several years running IHRA events in Top Dragster and will typically run the Bracket Finals every year. Curt has also attended the legendary Million Dollar Drag Race 19 times.
At the start of his career, Curt raced at Hallsville Dragstrip and Paris Dragstrip, where he won six track championships across multiple classes. He focused on those two tracks until 1997, when he began traveling more for big-money bracket racing. He was a perennial Top 5 finisher in the Southern Super 10’s series and won two Division 4 Top Dragster Championships in 2007 and 2015, finishing 10th and 6th nationally in points in those respective years. In 2015, he was named the Division 4 Driver of the Year.
Curt’s accomplishments include nine divisional race wins, a Sportsman Spectacular National Event victory in 2018, an IHRA Sports Nationals win, and back-to-back $40K finals at the Great American Bracket Races (GABR). He was named MVP of the GABR $500K, made three ladder round appearances at the 2024 OG Million Races, and won the 2019 Big Check Series Points Championship. Over the past decade, he has secured 26 wins in $10K+ big-money bracket races. Additionally, he was part of the 2022 winning Dream Team and has earned four runner-up finishes at the Bracket Finals.
Family Support
Curt says his biggest inspiration in racing comes from his father, Curt Sr.
“My father, Curt Sr. took me to the races several times when I was a kid, and I absolutely loved it. He also helped me with my first car project, and I haven’t stopped learning since. He instilled in me a strong work ethic and a dedication to hard work—values that have guided me both in life and in racing. He’s been racing in heaven for nearly a year now, and we miss him dearly. My family always keeps me going and is 110% supportive of my racing.
Curt and his wife, Krista, have been together for 26 years, and they have a wonderful 14-year-old daughter, Sabrina. Both Krista and Sabrina are a big part of Curt’s support system.
“Krista is my rock and my biggest supporter. She stands by me in everything I do, both on and off the track. My daughter, Sabrina, loves going to the races whenever school and her schedule allow, and we always have a great time together. Now that she’s older, we hope to make even more memories at the track—and she may even drive a little.”
Curt enjoys spending time with his family, whether it’s relaxing by the pool, hitting the golf course, or working in the shop. He says they bring him the most joy, and time with them is what he values most. He also loves unwinding with friends and neighbors and working on cars with Chad Branum.
