DragChamp Racer Spotlight: Zac Fulcher

Zac Fulcher is in this week’s DragChamp Racer Spotlight. Learn all about this DragChamp Pro Member in his spotlight below!

MAYFIELD, KY- Zac Fulcher of EDR Motorsports has been involved in racing since the age of 7. For Zac, racing is more than a hobby, it’s a family tradition spanning over three decades. His grandfather, Gary Fulcher, began drag racing at just 14 years old alongside his two older brothers. Together, they enjoyed several years before venturing into dirt track racing. Although their dirt track racing career was brief, it was highly successful, with the team winning the majority of the races they entered.

Gary’s passion for motorsports extended to go-kart racing, demolition derbies, and even motocross, but nothing compared to his love for drag racing. He eventually returned to his roots and never looked back. Gary passed on his love for the sport to Zac, introducing him to drag racing at Gleason Raceway Park, known as the “Playground of Power.” From that point on, they spent nearly every weekend at the track, fueling Zac’s lifelong passion for racing.

Zac now competes in big money bracket races, including events like the Flings, TB Promotions, and the Millions. When he’s not racing out of town, he runs the Super Pro class at his home track, Beacon Dragway, in Paducah, Kentucky.

Race Cars

EDR Motorsports has several different cars in the fleet, but two of Zac’s personal favorites are the 2024 M&M Dragster and the Chevy Nova wagon. In 2024, M&M Race Cars built a brand-new dragster for their team. After installing their driveline combo and a GET’M Carb, the car immediately delivered, winning its very first race and running 4.70s. The team also has a 1966 Chevy II Nova, which underwent a heart transplant early in the 2024 season. It runs 4.80s and is an absolute blast to drive.

Outside of Racing

When Zac isn’t behind the wheel of his race car, he works at his family-owned business, Southern Termite and Pest Control, where he is a fifth-generation exterminator. He’s also passionate about investing in real estate. In his free time, Zac enjoys waterfowl and turkey hunting during the off-season, but his main focus is often on brainstorming investments or strategies to improve their businesses.

His favorite movie is Smokey and the Bandit, and his favorite music artists are Three Days Grace and Nirvana. One thing people may not know about him is that in high school, he competed in waterfowl calling competitions. These weren’t just casual “here ducky, ducky” calls—he used custom-made calls that required tuning and skill to compete in various classes.

What is your favorite race car, and why?

My favorite car has to be the Chevy II. My grandfather got it when I was around 5-6 years old and didn’t run it until I was 12. Although I was just enjoying being around him and the car I had no idea how much he was teaching me about things like work ethic, patience, persistence, and getting an idea in your head and going for it.

Who has made the biggest impact on your racing success?

My Grandpa Gary, and my uncle Josh they both have been my mentor from the beginning and help me weekend and week out in the shop and on the business side of racing also My wife, Lindsay for pushing me.

How do you support your racing, side hustle, sponsor, partner, etc.?

It wouldn’t be fair for me to say I could do this without my sponsors, they are the biggest supporters of my operation. MRCOOL signed a contract with EDR Motorsports in 2021 and that partnership has allowed the possibility for these opportunities to race the way we do along side our other great partners!
