1 – Val Torres

Val Torres is your 2024 .90 Racer of the Year! Torres won the NHRA Super Gas world title in dramatic, come from behind fashion at the NHRA Finals in Pomona. After entering the race trailing Luke Bogacki and Keith Mayers, Torres stopped both opponents on his way to winning the event and the world championship. After stopping Mayers in the semifinals, Torres faced a must-win matchup with D5 hitter Kris Whitfield with the championship on the line. Torres won the double-breakout matchup to take the championship on a tie-breaker over Mayers. Val also won the Division 7 championship while posting three wins in three finals on the season.

2 – Colby Fuller

Colby Fuller won the Super Comp championship after winning three times in four finals during the 2024 season. In addition to the world title, Fuller also won the D2 championship to earn the #2 spot on the Racer of the Year list.

3 – Keith Mayers

Keith Mayers made an epic run at the Super Gas championship that included a borrowed car at the final race of the season. Mayers, who lives on the east coast, flew to California for the NHRA Finals in a bid to pass Luke Bogacki for the championship. In a car he’d never sat it, owned by a man he had never met (Pete Bothe), Mayers raced to the semifinals where he paired against the eventual world champ Val Torres. If he wins the round, he’s the champion, if Torres wins, he would have to win the race to win the championship. As mentioned previously, Torres took the win and won the race to claim the championship. Even though he didn’t win the championship, Mayers had a great season that included three wins in three finals on his way to a #2 finish nationally and the D1 championship.

4 – Ray Miller III
