Young gun Ty Gaynor doubles-up at the NHRA Northwest Nationals
18-year-old Ty Gaynor doubled-up in Top Dragster and Super Stock at the Muckleshoot Casino Resort NHRA Northwest Nationals at Pacific Raceways, becoming the youngest driver to ever complete the double-up feat.
KENT, WA – Ty Gaynor left Pacific Raceways with twice the hardware after turning in one of the most impressive performances of the weekend at the NHRA Northwest Nationals. Gaynor swept both Super Stock and Top Dragster, becoming the lone Sportsman racer to score a double-up at the event and adding his name to an elite group of drivers who have conquered multiple classes at the same national event.
Gaynor’s run started with a victory in Top Dragster, where a stellar .005 reaction time in the final helped him defeat Don Sefton with a 7.203-second pass on a 7.18 dial. He wasn’t finished there. Gaynor returned to the lanes just moments later and capped off the memorable weekend with a Super Stock victory over Brad Burton, posting a near-dead-on 9.150-second run on his 9.14 dial to secure his second Wally of the weekend. Burton, meanwhile, settled for runner-up honors after also advancing to the Stock final, making the Super Stock showdown a battle between two drivers chasing multiple trophies.

Joining Gaynor in the winner’s circle was Ryan Warter (Comp), Gary Gandee (STK), Paul Nero (SC), Cooper Chun (SG), Dana Glenn (SST), and Bryan Warr (TS).
