Ledford, Kropfeld, and Scalf visited the winner’s circle at the Derby City $50K this past weekend at Ohio Valley Dragway.
The Derby City $50K rolled into Ohio Valley Raceway over the past weekend with racers traveling from all over the Midwest in hopes to take home the $50,000 check.
Racers had a chance to win $10,000 on Friday and Sunday and $50,000 on Saturday. Each winner also got to take home a customized Louisville Slugger Baseball Bat. The Race Derby City team battled unexpected rain and late hours but finished the race on Sunday as planned.
THURSDAY GAMBLER’S RACE RESULTS
Racers competed for entries into the Derby City $100K event in the Thursday night Gamblers Race. Calvin Reynolds took the win over Kelly Smith in the final round. Reynolds went home with a full weekend entry to the Derby City $100K event, with an entry into the Triple 20’s and an entry in the $100,000 64 car shootout. Smith went home with an entry into the $100,000 64 car shootout.
In an all Vega Wagon final round, Rob Kropfeld took home the first big check and baseball bat of the weekend after defeating Doug Burks in the final round.
Chris Bledsoe and Zach Evans were the semi-finalists.
Lane Fischer was victorious in his junior dragster after defeating Will Young in the final round. Connor Dumanski and Paige Smith were the semi-finalists.
Unexpected weather took the $50,000 into the early hours on Sunday morning, but that didn’t seem to matter to Jeff Ledford who was victorious over Scotty Richardson in the final round. Ledford took home the big check, baseball bat, and the customized trophy made by Travis Theobald.
Dave Mascaro and Blake Fuqua were the semi-finalists.
Local racer Donnie Scalf took home the last win of the weekend after defeating Chris Johnson in the final round of the $10,000 race. Scalf’s golfcart towed his Beamer (yes, a beamer) to the winner’s circle after losing oil pressure in the final round, but that didn’t matter to him as $10,000 was on the line!
Nick Hastings and Justin Clark were the semi-finalists.
Emily Parker was victorious over Grant Cook in the junior dragster final round on Sunday. Juniors ran for $1,500 on Sunday after not getting to run on Saturday due to the rain and late hours.
Matthew Blair was the semi-finalist.
Congratulations to all the winners and finalists from the Derby City $50K. Pre-entry for the Derby City $100K opens up July 14th so be sure to watch the Race Derby City Facebook page for more details!
