Racers Win Big at Western Canadian Summer Classic

Eight drivers claim wins at the Western Canadian Summer Classic at the Medicine Hat Drag Racing Association.

MEDICINE HAT, AB CANADA- T&T Motorsports held its 2nd Annual Western Canadian Summer Classic July 23-25, 2021 at Medicine Hat Drag Racing Association. The event presented by RAD Torque Systems, GMack Oilfield Services, and Total Dairy Solutions offered numerous classes and shootouts for racers to take part in.

On Friday, there was a $5K Warmup race and a Junior Dragster Gamblers race. Saturday featured one of the $10K main events, a 48 Car $20K Box Shootout, 32 car $10K No Box Shootout, and $1K Juniors race. Finally, Sunday held the second $10K main event and the last Junior $1K of the weekend.

The last two No Box cars each earned $1,000 during the Warmup Race and both main events. Those final two No Box cars then joined the Box cars during the quarter-final round, where the pairs were then laddered based on reaction time.

Over $100,000 was awarded throughout three days of intense Top Bulb, Bottom Bulb, and Junior Dragster competition. About $20,000 of additional funds were also dispersed through Racer Appreciation awards and round prizes!

Friday’s $5K Warmup

John Schmidt claimed Friday’s $5,000-to-win Warmup race win over Eric Goulden.

The lone semi-finalist was Bob Heroux.

Braydon Heroux and Chance Edelmann were the last standing No Box cars.

The semi-finalists were Casey Plaizier and Adam de Jonge.

The last standing No Box cars were Kalim Menzel and Dan Coss.
