Taylor Bowling is the DragChamp May Racer of the Month after winning main events at two Final Call Promotions races

APRIL 2022 – We’re excited to announce our first Racer of the Month for the 2022 racing season. Thanks to the support of great companies like Laris Motorsports Insurance, Travis Theobald at Theobald Motorsports, and Wild Willy Fuel Fragrance we’re able to provide increased recognition for the top sportsman racers in the country.

After an in-depth review of the Laris Motorsports Insurance Top 10 Lists from May, we selected the top performers for the month. The Racer of the Month gets bragging rights and a sample package from Wild Willy Fuel Fragrance.

Highlights

Before we get into the finalist and the actual Racer of the Month winner, let’s look back at some standout performances from May.

We’ll kick off the May recap with Great American Dream Team winners. The team of Donny Burleson, Bart Nelson, Curt Harvey, Chad Sandlin, and Chad Branum raced to the Top Bulb team victory in Holly Springs. On the Bottom Bulb side, team Daniel Riddle took the victory. Their team consisted of Daniel Riddle, Tim Pace, Will Jones, Todd Berry, and David Bell.

Racers that led the Top 10 List presented by Laris Motorsports Insurance during the month included Dink Holmes who won $100K at the Spring Fling, Matt Dadas who won $50K at the TB Promotions race, Peter Biondo who won $20K at Numidia, and Shawn Carpenter, the $75K SFG winner.

Other racers that grabbed our attention during the month included NHRA standouts, John Labbous, Keith Mayers, Lance Abbott, and Jeff Longhany. Labbous made back-to-back national event finals in Super Comp at Charlotte and Virginia. After falling short in Charlotte, Labbous picked up the win in Virginia. Keith Mayers won two D1 Super Street Wally’s on back-to-back weekends. Lance Abbott swept the Top Sportsman class at the D4 LODRS doubleheader in Dallas and Jeff Longhany won Stock at the Virginia Nationals and at the Rockingham LODRS the following weekend.

Top Contenders

#5 – Matt Dadas collected yet another $50,000 victory! His latest big money victory came a the TB Promotions 50K.

#4 – Champ McCrory proved his 2021 streak was no fluke as he destroyed the field at the SFG World Series of Bracket Racing to cash for another six-figure payday! McCrory won the $100,000 main event to extend his dominance of the big money bracket racing scene.

#3 – Scotty Richardson has reasserted himself as one of the greatest drag racers ever! In May, Scotty won $15K at the SFG World Series and then a few days later, reached the semifinals in the $75K race. A week later Scotty raced to a $30K victory in Cedar Falls. Had the victory in Iowa occurred in May instead of June, Scotty would have easily won the Racer of the Month title.

#2 – Shawn Carpenter made his presence known at the SFG World Series after winning the $75K race and racing to a semifinal appearance the following night in the $100K main event!

May Racer of the Month

#1 – Taylor Bowling wins the DragChamp May 2022 Racer of the Month title after a dominating performance at several events during the month. Bowling has enjoyed a stellar start to the season winning on almost a weekly basis. In May, he won the $10K main event at the Working Man’s 10 Grands, Super Pro at Beech Bend, and $7,500 at the No Delay Nationals. In his victories at the Working Man’s race and Beech Bend, Bowling was leaving off the bottom against the Top Bulb racers. In addition to the victories listed above, Bowling was runner-up in the No-Box final on Sunday at the Working Man’s race and had a split & quit in the No Delay Nationals Saturday Gamblers race.

Congratulations to Taylor on a great month of racing and for winning the DragChamp Racer of the Month award presented by Wild Willy Fuel Fragrance and Theobald Motorsports!

How the winner is determined: The DragChamp Racer of the Month award is presented to the racer that makes the biggest impact on the Top 10 List during the month.  To be considered for the Racer of the Month title, a racer must make at least one Top 10 appearance during the month.  At the end of the month, we review the weekly Top 10 lists and select the racer that made the most significant impact on the list. The winner will receive a sample pack of fuel fragrances from Wild Willy Fuel Fragrance.
