Timmy Smith Wins Mike Smith Memorial Race

Timmy Smith emotionally visited the winners circle over the weekend at the Mike Smith Memorial Race at Montgomery International Dragway .

MONTGOMERY, AL – Hundreds of racers showed up for the Mike Smith Memorial Race last weekend, hoping to cash in for a little money before the GABR $500K event this week there. Despite the unfavorable weather forecast, the MID crew was able to complete the weekend and crown winners in the winners circle.

Friday’s race was cancelled and the payout was added to Saturday and Sunday, making it $30,000 to win each day.

Timmy Smith led the weekend, winning his father’s memorial race. Smith was very emotional in the winners circle, stating he was at a loss for words and could never describe how much this win meant to him.

Josh Mackey defeated Bryant Walding in the $5,000 final round to pick up the first win of the weekend.


Shane Carr took out Cory Gulitti in the final round to pick up the first $30,000 check of the weekend. Carr was also crowned the weekend MVP from his on-track performance.

In the Duck Race, David Taylor was victorious over Silas Boatner.


In a rather emotional final round, Timmy Smith came out on top over Charlie Hardy to win his father’s memorial race. Smith wore his father’s helmet during the race and felt as if he was with him during every pass.

Nick Folk was the semi-finalist.
