Instant Results – Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals Sportsman Winners
BRAINERD, Minn. – Results below from the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals at Brainerd International Raceway.
Super Stock – Brian Johnson wins his first national event when opponent Jason DeForrest goes red.
Stock – Ben Line goes back-to-back after winning Stock Eliminator for the second straight year in Brainerd. In the final, Line won heads up C/SA contest with red-hot Randi Lyn Shipp. Shipp, racing in her second straight final round, came away with her second runner-up effort in as many weeks. Even in the loss, Shipp has had a career year with multiple wins and numerous late round and final round appearances.
Super Comp – Don Nichols earned his first national event win over a late-leaving Donald Leisdon in the Super Comp final. Nichols, appearing in his second final round of the year, was stellar at the tree throughout eliminations finishing off with a .004 R.T. in the final round win.
Super Gas – Jeff Crooks earned his first national event Wally in his first final round appearance with his win over Tom Carlson. Carlson, also appearing in his first national event final round, fouled by -.005 in the final.
Top Dragster – Todd Fleck won his first national event Wally when Division 4 hitter Ross Laris broke in the final. Fleck’s semifinal opponent timed-out on the starting line allowing Fleck a free pass to the finals. Laris’s troubles began in the semifinal when he broke off the line earning the win after his opponent went red by a bunch.
Top Sportsman – Red-hot J.R. Lobner won for the second week in a row after defeating Michael Freischel in the final round by .0015. After winning his third national event, Lobner should also take over the national points lead in the class.
