Remembering Mike Smith

Mike Smith was a fierce competitor for well over four decades all over the South and in big money bracket racing. Mike was known for his shirtless appearance and always had a cigar in hand. He was one of those old school racers, in that he would bend over backwards to help you get to the starting line just to put you on the trailer.

Mike was not only an icon figure in the racing world, he was a huge figure in his small town of Roanoke, Alabama. There, Mike owned the local mechanic shop and was a local firefighter.

Outside of racing, Mike enjoyed his Harley and spending time with his kids and six grandchildren, which he adored. Mike will also be heavily missed at the OG Million Dollar Drag Race. For over 10 years, Mike was the man behind the grill at the racers appreciation steak dinner, cooking for thousands of racers. Mike will be greatly missed in this world!

Triple $20Ks

The triple $20,000-to-win races will take place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with $5,000 going to the runner-up on each day. Entry fees for all three days will be $400 or $200 for a single day entry. There will also be a $150 first round buyback available.

Last year’s winners included: TJ Coleman who defeated Glynn Smith in Friday’s $20K, Mikey Bloomfield who picked up the Saturday $20K win over Kyle Green, and Buddy Ferrell who captured the Sunday $20K final round win over Heath Davis.
