McKenzee Hogan: Jr DragChamp Racer Spotlight
This week’s DragChamp Jr. Racer Spotlight is all about recent PDRA American Door slammer Challenge Top Jr. Dragster Winner, McKenzee Hogan.
DUDLEY, NC- McKenzee Hogan is a fierce Junior Dragster competitor who has been racing for the past five years. She started racing at the young age of seven after her Dad introduced her to the sport by taking her to the drag strip. Just recently, she won Top Jr. Dragster at the 2022 PDRA American Door slammer Challenge and doubled-up just weeks before at Galot Motorsports Park.

She currently competes in the Top Junior Dragster PDRA class, 8.90 Index, 10-13 year old Age Group, and the All Run Junior Dragster class at their local drag strips. Her current car is a 2014 Mike Bos that they have owned for two years. It has a Craw’s Racing motor onboard which runs 8.90s.

Outside of Racing
When McKenzee isn’t behind the wheel of her Junior Dragster, she can be found playing basketball, soccer, or hanging out with her two older brothers. She also likes to listen to music and her favorite artists are PJ North and Morgan Wallen. Her favorite TV show is Heartland and she loves scrolling through TikTok and Instagram.

What’s on your bucket list, future goals, what do you hope to achieve?
I hope to achieve a win at an NHRA race for a Wally, win points champion at Galot & PDRA.
What is your favorite race car, and why?
My car is my favorite
Who has made the biggest impact on your racing success?
My family because they are my biggest cheerleaders!

Leah Pruett & Lizzy Musi
Tell us what you do for a living?
I am a student and I drag race

How do you support your racing, side hustle, sponsor, partner, etc.?
Our sponsors are Shaw RV, O’Meara Realty, Professional Staffing Solutions, Amsoil INC, NGK Spark Plugs, TDH INC, and my parents and Nana & Papaw without them we wouldn’t be able to attend as many races.
Who do you hate to see in the other lane, and why?
Nobody, I try my hardest against everybody
What’s the hardest part of drag racing?
Driving the finish line
What’s your most embarrassing moment in a race car?
When I go bad green or red
What are you saying to yourself just before you stage the car?
Try your best and you got this!

What do you enjoy the most at the racetrack?
Spending time with family and friends
Are you superstitious?
Yes! I have to give my Dad a high-five and say a prayer with my Dad, then my Mom and then myself, and give my two-year old brother a high-five.
Do you love to win or hate to lose?

Which are you better at the starting line or the finish line?
Starting line, I’m just learning how to drive the finish line
What motivates you to continue racing?
Having fun

If money were no object, what would your racing operation look like? Car, trailer, class, race schedule, etc.
If money were no object, I would have an RV and our own car trailer. I would have a bigger Junior Dragster and race every weekend!
How often do you use a practice tree?
I don’t use a practice tree
What is your daily driver?
I’m not old enough to drive!
