10th Annual Southern Big Buck Nationals Returns to SCR
The Flicker Promotions & CP Promotions 10th Annual Southern Big Buck Nationals returns to State Capitol Raceway February 10-12, 2023.
BATON ROUGE, LA- Make plans now to attend the 10th Annual Southern Big Buck Nationals presented by Flicker Promotions and CP Promotions February 10-12, 2023 at State Capitol Raceway.
This event will give Box racers a chance at $10,000 and No-Box racers an opportunity to win $5,000 on three separate days. Junior Dragster racers are also invited in on the fun and will be split by two age groups.
On Saturday, there will be a $5,000-to-win No-Box shootout and a Cajun King winner takes all Shootout. In addition, there will also be a Racer Appreciation Party on Saturday night and a Thursday practice tree race.

Box Competition
Box racers will have the opportunity to win $10,000 each day on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The three-day entry fee is $400 and a single day is $200 with a $100 buyback available for 1st or 2nd round.
Last year’s Box winners included Cory Gulitti, Derrick Patton, and Brittany Ezell LeJeune.



No-Box Competition
In No-Box, racers can compete for $5,000 on all three days of the event. The three-day entry fee is $300 or $150 for a single day. There will be a 1st or 2nd round buyback available for $50.
Last year’s No-Box winners included Jimmy Denham, Lucas Walker and Wyatt Ezell.



Saturday Night No-Box Shootout
On Saturday night, there will also be a $5,000-to-win No-Box 64-Car Shootout. For the shootout, it will be a $150 entry fee with no buybacks.
Last year, Chad Sandlin picked up the Saturday No Box Shootout win over Jeremiah Butler.

Junior Dragsters
Junior Dragster racers are invited to join in on the fun at the Southern Big Buck Nationals. There will be two age groups, 8-12 Year Olds & 13-18 Year Olds.
The 8-12 Year Olds will race for $500 on Saturday and Sunday with a $50 entry fee each day and a $20 1st round buyback available.
In the 13-18 Year Old class, they will race for $1,000 on both days with a $100 single day entry and a $25 buyback. For both classes, there will be two time runs on Saturday and one on Sunday.
Douglas Hughes, Mario Gonzalez, Slade Olinde, and Maddie Chesne were the Junior Dragster winners from last year’s event.




Last Chance Lotto
For just $10, you can have the opportunity to be placed back into the 4th round each day! One ticket will be drawn per class.
All Run Cajun King Shootout
On Saturday, there will be a Cajun King Shootout in a winner takes all format. The entry is $500 and is all run with callout pairing starting at 16 cars. The callout order will be based on previous round reaction time.

Schedule
Gates open at 1PM on Thursday and will be open for parking all night. There will be Test & Tune from 1pm- 6pm fo anyone who wants to do a little bit of testing. Thursday night will also host a $1,000-to-win Practice Tree Race at 7:30pm, so show up early for a chance at some cash!
Friday gates open at 9AM and the one-and-only time run will begin at 11AM. Eliminations will follow.
Saturday and Sunday, gates will open at 8AM with new entry time runs at 9AM. Eliminations will follow. Saturday’s Shootouts will begin after the Main Event final round.
The weekend spectator gate fee is $30 or $15 for a single day.
Extras
Thursday night will feature a $1,000-to-win practice tree race with Gumbo and a boat load of beer. There will also be a Racer Appreciation Party on Saturday night. A new addition for 2023 will be Saturday’s Run For The Money prior to Eliminations.
