Cowtown Winter Throwdown Adds Another First Time Event Winner in 2021

The 4th Annual Cowtown Winter Throwdown saw Madison Ezell and Chad Sandlin taking home big wins in Texas.

KENNEDALE, TX – The Charlie Stewart Race Cars Cowtown Winter Throwdown brought big money practice tree racing back to Texas over the weekend. The 4th annual event, put on by Ryan Gleghorn and Nathan Martin, kicked off 2021 with two and a half winners…don’t worry, I’ll explain later.

Last year’s Cowtown Winter Throwdown had a record high attendance rate, but the effects of the pandemic that emerged afterward are still showing. The 2021 crowd may have been a bit smaller, but they were still able to compete for $5,000 in the Drag Coverage Main Event.

Everyone who did make the trip experienced tons of fun, fireball, and plenty of prizes from various race-related companies. Charlie Stewart also provided free food for the event!

Drag Coverage Main Event

The Main Event, sponsored by Drag Coverage, boasted a $5,000 top prize and $800 for the runner up. The quarterfinal round included Madison Ezell, Rocky McLain II, and two entries each for Spencer Massey and Dale Burrow. The final three came down to Ezell, Massey, and Burrow.

Burrow earns the bye while Ezell takes out Massey in the semifinals. Spencer Massey picked up the $500 I-30 Dragway bottom bulb bonus for being the last bottom bulb racer standing.

In the final, Madison Ezell defeats Dale Burrow to take home the $5,000 win. The “half” winner mentioned earlier is because Ezell picked up the win while pregnant with her second child.

Top Bulb Shootout

The Great American Bracket Races Shootout had drivers dueling for entries, courtesy of co-promoters Britt Cummings and Gaylon Rolison, Jr. The finalists would earn an entry into either the Great American Guaranteed $1,000,000 or GABR Dream Team Challenge this May.

SD Wheeler and Dale Burrow fell in the semifinal round. That left Chad Sandlin and Madison Ezell to face off in the finals. This time, Ezell earns $600 and an entry into the GABR Dream Team Challenge for her runner up.

Chad Sandlin wins the 32-field shootout, earning $2,000 and an entry into the Great American Guaranteed Million.
