DragChamp April 2022 Racer of the Month

Kevin Brannon is the DragChamp April Racer of the Month after winning the Spring Fling Million in Vegas followed by a $20K victory in GALOT

APRIL 2022 – We’re excited to announce our first Racer of the Month for the 2022 racing season. Thanks to the support of great companies like Laris Motorsports Insurance, Travis Theobald at Theobald Motorsports, and Wild Willy Fuel Fragrance we’re able to provide increased recognition for the top sportsman racers in the country.

After an in-depth review of the Laris Motorsports Insurance Top 10 Lists from April, we selected the top performers for the month. The Racer of the Month gets bragging rights and a sample package from Wild Willy Fuel Fragrance.

Highlights

Before we get into the finalist and the actual Racer of the Month winner, let’s look back at some standout performances from April.

Several racers stood out during April led by Donovan Williams who won twice at the Capital City Classic winning over $100K in the process. Lucas Walker made some noise in April after winning $30K at the Spring Fling Million leaving off the bottom. Lucas even switched cars midway through the race after a pit accident destroyed his primary ride. Walker also picked up a couple of wins at Beacon Dragway during the month.

Tova Marshall went back-to-back winning at Pine Valley Raceway and at the Six Shooter Showdown at Xtreme Raceway Park. His victory at Xtreme came in the $20,000 Shootout. Speaking of back-to-back, Johnny Ezell doubled up for $20,000 at the Texas Two Step at I-30 Dragway. Randy Rice made a couple of Top 10 appearances during April after making three straight $5K finals and winning two of the three.

And last but not least was Chris Gulitti who made as many laps in April as anyone. After making 40+ laps at the Spring Fling where he went deep almost every day, Gulitti returned to his home track at won the Houston Raceway Super Pro championship shootout at the NHRA SpringNationals.

Top Contenders

#5 – Ryan McClanahan showed out at Vegas winning three Wallly’s in a two-race span. A week after he won Stock Eliminator at the Four-Wide Nationals, McClanahan doubled up winning Stock and Super Stock at the D7 Lucas Oil Series event the following weekend.

#4 – Gary Williams continues to shine as most certainly the best bracket racer of all time. G-dub made two $30K finals during the month including a runner-up at the Spring Fling Million and a win at the Spring Fling GALOT.

#3 – Dink Holmes put his name in the hat for the April Racer of the Month after making consecutive big money finals at GALOT. After a $20K runner-up the week prior to the Spring Fling, Holmes cashed for $100,000 on Friday to add his name to the Fling history books.

#2 – Randy Biddle Jr. kicked off the 2022 racing season with a bang winning on almost a weekly basis. Two of his biggest weekends came at the MotorMile and VMP. At the MotorMile, RBJ won twice in No-Box and runnered-up in Top. The following week he made two $5K finals at VMP earning a win and a runner-up.

April Racer of the Month

#1 – Kevin Brannon wins the DragChamp April 2022 Racer of the Month title after winning two Spring Fling events in a three week span. KB crushed the field at the Spring Fling Million in Vegas to earn his second million dollar race victory. A few weeks later Brannon won the $20K Laris Motorsports Insurance Shootout at the Spring Fling GALOT which solidified the Racer of the Month title.

Congratulations to Kevin and his wife Ivey on a great month of racing and for winning the DragChamp Racer of the Month award presented by Theobald Motorsports!

How the winner is determined: The DragChamp Racer of the Month award is presented to the racer that makes the biggest impact on the Top 10 List during the month.  To be considered for the Racer of the Month title, a racer must make at least one Top 10 appearance during the month.  At the end of the month, we review the weekly Top 10 lists and select the racer that made the most significant impact on the list. The winner will receive a sample pack of fuel fragrances from Wild Willy Fuel Fragrance.
